Here's an interesting rifle that changed hands more than a few times before ending up a Vietnam war trophy. I received this rifle and documentation directly from the Vietnam veteran who brought it home. Originally manufactured by J.P. Sauer during WWII for the Nazi's this Mauser K98k was subsequently captured by the Russians, refurbished, and eventually supplied to the Viet Cong to fight the Americans. Typical of a Russian capture K98, it has all mismatched parts (the barrel and receiver match), has the "X" or "crossed rifles" struck on the left side of the receiver, and has been reblued. The laminated stock has been numbered by the Russians to the receiver number.
A neat piece of history and a fully functional WW2/Vietnam weapon.
