Visiting the Distillery District Love Locks in Toronto

Toronto’s Distillery District is my favourite neighbourhood in the city. It is so beautiful, and I love how it is a pedestrian-only area. The huge love lock sign is a must-see art piece in the Distillery District. In this post I will not only share photos of the sign, I will also let you in on a secret of how to get great photos of you and your partner locking your lock onto the sign.

As excited as I was about the love locks, I was also stressed out about how we were going to get pictures with it when there were so many other people around.

While looking at the sign, we noticed the man selling the locks was taking pictures for one couple, and he appeared to be taking lots of them, and getting people out of the way. Bingo!

We went over to his stand and saw he was selling the locks for $10. We picked one out and wrote our names on it, then he took our camera and proceeded to take pictures of us! It sounds like such a simple thing, but he was amazing. So fun to have someone taking candid shots of you!

Of course you can bring your own lock if you want to and get someone else to take your picture or set up a tripod if it’s not busy, but if you are there at a peak time like we were, having this guy take photos took all the stress out of it.

Just a note, he told us he’s not there in the winter.
