Ivana Lisjak was born on 17 March 1987 in Čakovec, to parents Dragutin and Slavica. She has one sister, Slađana. Lisjak began playing tennis at the age of 3 when sister introduced her at their tennis club. She is a baseliner who prefers hardcourts. She currently trains a 13-year old tennis player in New York.
