Tokyo Mauri G3 SG1
By: Chuck
Overall Feel: The gun is mostly plastic which
is cool or else the weight would be excessive. This is one of
the more larger guns in the Tokyo Mauri series. The large battery
compartment (which can be made larger by gutting out some of the
plastic) can hold a very large custom battery, if the gun is upgraded.
The G3SG1 is easy to disassemble, but the fuse is more difficult
to replace than other guns. The bi-pods on the gun are mainly
for looks and really cannot be used during combat, but they are
very useful when resting the gun. The G3 SG1 heavier than most,
and I still have not found a good fitting sling for this weapon.
The good thing about this gun is maintenance is very easy since
most of the gun can come apart by the removal of 2 pins. (This
is also bad if you lose these pins since they will cost around
$20 to replace)
Upgrade: When this monster is upgraded it will
hurt like hell. The longer barrel gives it a slighter range advantage
to other guns. I would recommend around 350 FPS and up, since
most of your combat will take place from 75 feet and out. (This
gun is really hard to rush with) Investing more cash upfront will
save you a lot of money in the upgrading process.
My Upgrades:
400 FPS
Tasco 4x30 Scope ( I cannot adjust it right so it shoots into
the cross hairs)
Hurricane Mount and scope mounts
Double Clip
Cost: $575 ( everything except the double clip was bought as
a package @ Uncompany.com for $388, but shipping and high cap/battery
it came out to be around $550. + the $21 for the double clip)
I am also currently looking into a tighter barrel and silencer
for the G3 GS1 ( this will add about 12 inches onto the gun )
Accessories: The G3 SG1 absolutely needs a scope.
This will cost around $100 for the Hurricane Scope Mount and a
decent scope. (Be sure to buy scope covers to protect scope) Most
likely you will only need to purchase one high cap magazine since
it holds 500 rds. Unlike the AK high cap magazine which holds
more rds, the high cap on a G3 is very reliable.
Performance: The G3 SG1 is very intimidating
when upgraded. It is not meant for close combat or rushing, since
the large barrel will inhibit accurate shooting on the move. The
performance of the G3 SG1 is slightly better than others in terms
of range.
Issues:
Loose Bi-pods: The screws on my bi-pod tend to come loose.
Cheek Pad: When not using scope it inhibits your aim through
the regular targeting sight.
Battery Butt Pad: Very difficult to remove sometimes.
High Cap Magazines: The paint can be scratched of very easily
since Tokyo Mauri tried to give it a metallic feel.
Scope: If you purchase a scope that comes with scope covers.
The covers will get stretched out very quickly. Instead of spending
a lot of money replacing them just use black duct tape to tape
the front scope cover onto the scope.
Conclusion and Score
Overall i think this is a great gun for outdoor combat.
Score: 7/10 (not
able to perform close quarters combat and a bit more expensive
than other AEG's)
