A stunning season in 2003 saw Sprem leap from 273 in the world to number 59 and the improvement has continued as she is now seeded for the first time at a Grand Slam.
Last year, at the age of 18, she outgrew the second tier ITF circuit, opening the season with four straight titles and a 28-match unbeaten streak.
A first main tour final followed in Strasbourg as well as victories over Jelena Dokic and Vera Zvonareva.
And the Croatian has moved up the rankings throughout 2004, reaching three semi-finals and a quarter-final in Miami.
Earlier this month Sprem broke into the world's top 30 and took Venus Williams to three tough sets in Berlin, suggesting a Grand Slam breakthrough could be imminent.
